The Krehbiel giclee prints start with an extremely high-resolution scan of the original painting.
Scanning is done using the BetterLight capture system. This is a wall mounted digital scanner especially designed for the fine art market.
It produces an incredible RGB 8-bit 350 megabyte file with no interpolation! The superior lighting system allows capture of the painting’s texture
while preserving the finest detail and wide color gamut. An Industry standard, this system literally has no peers.
Print reproductions of the scanned image are made using Giclee printing. Giclee (pronounced Gee’clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt,
which is how an inkjet printer works. However, this is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer and is much larger and more detailed.
Giclee is widely recognized as the best way to produce archival quality reproductions of fine art and photography.
Each Krehbiel giclee print is custom printed to your order in the U.S.A. by highly skilled craftsmen and artisans.
Prints are produced on an Epson SureColor
Epson Giclee Printer
S80600 state-of-the-art printer. The 64-inch Epson SureColor features newly developed
Epson UltraChrome 9-color solvent ink for outstanding photographic print quality and durability.
The UltraChrome PRO nine-color pigmented ink set allow for both an incredible color gamut, and outdoor archival properties with a
fine art resolution to boot! The heating system opens the pores of the canvas allowing the ink to bond with the canvas itself.
Upon cooling no topcoat is required.
Krehbiel giclee prints are produced on archival quality canvas. The recommended canvas is Urth Satin canvas made in the U.S.A.
This is 22 MIL, 400 GSM OBA free poly-cotton solvent canvas that is archival certified for 100+ years display life.
The resulting print will be a treasure for you and generations to come.
After printing, each giclee canvas print is mounted to a stretcher. The default stretcher is a 3/4-inch-thick frame made from
high-quality pine sourced from sustainable FSC certified forests. The edges of the picture are mirrored for the wrapped section over the sides
of the frame so none of the original picture is lost. The canvas is stapled on the back of the stretcher frame for clean looking edges.
This produces a beautiful picture which can be left alone and displayed as a “gallery wrap” or inserted into a standard size picture frame.

The standard Krehbiel giclee print:
- Printed on Urth Satin Canvas, 22 MIL, 400 GSM.
- Printed with mirrored edges for gallery wrapped mounting.
- Mounted on a 3/4-inch thick pine stretcher complete with mounting hardware.
- Carefully packed and shipped in a box. Taxes and Shipping are included at no additional charge for the continental USA.
- Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity, Brass Signature Tag, and 90 page book on Krehbiel by Donald T. Ryan.
If you have unique requirements or would prefer other looks, here are some of the popular options.
- Gloss finish canvas is also available.
- Use of paper instead of canvas. This may be appropriate for watercolors, or for a unique look. We recommend 310GSM BRIGHT WHITE VELVET FINE ART PAPER, 100% COTTON for paper. This art paper is made from 100% cotton fiber and is acid and lignin free. Elegance Velvet is a proprietary mould-made fine art paper that is strong and dimensionally stable. It has a high white point, remarkable ink load capacity, and best-in-class image quality that far exceeds the limitations of virtually every paper of its kind.
- Delete the stretcher frame and ship the giclee print rolled in a sturdy mailing tube. Price reduced.
- Substitute a 1-1/2 inch stretcher frame instead of the 3/4 thick frame. This will make mounting in a standard picture frame more difficult. But it may be a good choice for larger prints where the intention is to display them just with the gallery wrap.
- Different gallery wrapped edge treatment instead of mirrored edges. Other possibilities are shown in the image above. Color wrap can be black, white or a custom color. Note that using image overflow will lose some of the print to the edge surfaces.
- Some of the 30 x 40 inch prints can be printed at a larger size of 36 x 48 inches. Due to oversize shipping costs, these prints will be shipped without a stretcher in a sturdy mailing tube.

Each Krehbiel giclee print is custom made to your order. In most cases, your giclee print will be shipped within 5 to 10 business days of your order depending on the workload in the shop.
